532 Hadith
Islam attaches great importance to good manners and moral virtues. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "I was sent to perfect noble character."
Abu Sa‘īd al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man must not look at another man's ‘Awrah (must-cover body part), nor must a woman look at another woman's ‘Awrah; neither should two men lie undressed under one attire, nor should two women lie undressed under one attire."
Jābir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Cover the vessels, fasten the waterskins, close the doors, and extinguish the lamps, for, indeed, the devil does not loosen waterskins, nor open doors, nor uncover vessels. If one can find nothing to cover his vessel with other than a stick while mentioning the name of Allah, let him do so, because a mouse may set a house on fire with its inhabitants inside."
Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not keep the fire burning in your homes when you go to bed."
Masrūq reported: We visited ‘Abdullāh ibn Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) and he said to us: 'O people, he who knows about something, let him say it. And he who does not know should say: 'Allah knows best.' It is part and parcel of knowledge that a man who does not know something should say: 'Allah knows best.' Allah said to His Prophet: {Say: 'I do not ask you for it any payment, and I am not of the pretentious.'} [Sūrat Sād: 86]"
Jābir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that a man wears his shoes while standing.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: We were with ‘Umar, and he said: "We were forbidden from the affectation."
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The bell is the musical instrument of the Satan."
‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that whenever the wind blew strongly, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would say: "O Allah, I ask You for its good and the good of what is in it and the good of the purpose for which it was sent; and I seek Your refuge from its evil and the evil of what is in it and the evil of the purpose for which it was sent.”
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The wind is from the blessings of Allah. It brings mercy, and it brings punishment. When you see it, do not swear at it, but ask Allah for its goodness and seek Allah's refuge from its evil."
Zayd ibn Khālid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) reported the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him said: "Do not curse the rooster, for indeed it awakens (people) for prayer."
Jābir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) visited Umm As-Sā'ib (or Umm al-Musayyab) and asked her: "What ails you, O Umm As-Sā'ib (or Umm al-Mūsayyab)? You are shivering!" She replied: "It is the fever, may Allah not bless it!" He said to her: "Do not curse the fever, for it removes the sins of the children of Adam the same way the bellows remove the impurities of iron."
Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not call a hypocrite a master, for if he is a master, you will have angered your Almighty Lord."
The Prophet (peace be upon him) placed good behavior at the center. He said that the most complete believers in faith are those with the best character. These hadiths cover kindness, patience, generosity, honesty, respect for parents, and many other essential virtues.
