Surah Al-A'raf 7:34 — translation and meaning

ۖ ۖ وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلٌ فَإِذَا جَاءَ أَجَلُهُمْ لَا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ سَاعَةً وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ

فَإِذَا

يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ
yastakhiruna
seek to delay
سَاعَةً
sa'atan
an hour
وَلَا
wala
and not
يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ
yastaqdimuna
seek to advance (it)

Transliteration

Wa likulli ummatin ajalun fa izaa jaaa'a ajaluhum laa yastaakhiroona saa'atanw wa laa yastaqdimoon

Translation

And for every nation is a [specified] term. So when their time has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it].

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

Every generation and people are given a fixed time. If their decreed time arrives, they cannot delay it, even by a small amount, and they cannot advance it.
