Surah Al-A'raf 7:42 — translation and meaning

ۖ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا أُولَئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ

believe
وَعَمِلُوا
wa'amilu
and do
الصَّالِحَاتِ

[the] righteous deeds

We burden
نَفْسًا

any soul
إِلَّا
illa
except
وُسْعَهَا
wus'aha
(to) its capacity
أُولَئِكَ
ulaika
Those
أَصْحَابُ
ashabu
(are the) companions
الْجَنَّةِ
al-janati
(of) Paradise
هُمْ
hum
they
فِيهَا
fiha
in it
خَالِدُونَ
khaliduna
(will) abide forever

Transliteration

Wallazeena aamanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati la nukallifu nafsan illaa wus'ahaaa ulaaa'ika Ashaabul jannati hum feehaa khaalidoon

Translation

But those who believed and did righteous deeds - We charge no soul except [within] its capacity. Those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

Yet those who have faith in their Lord and who do good actions to the best of their ability – and Allah does not burden a soul with more than it can bear – they are the companions of Paradise, entering into it and living there eternally.
