Surah Al-Haqqa 69:25 — translation and meaning

وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِشِمَالِهِ فَيَقُولُ يَالَيْتَنِي لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَابِيَهْ

But as for
مَنْ
man

بِشِمَالِهِ

in his left hand
فَيَقُولُ
fayaqulu
will say
يَالَيْتَنِي
yalaytani
O! I wish

كِتَابِيَهْ
kitabiyah
my record
Transliteration
Wa ammaa man ootiya kitaabahoo bishimaalihee fa yaqoolu yaalaitanee lam oota kitaaabiyah
Translation
But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record
Verse interpretation (Tafsir)
As for the one who will be given his book of deeds in his left hand, he will say out of extreme regret, “If only I had not been given my book of deeds, because of the evil deeds deserving punishment within it.”
