Surah Al-Isra 17:107 — translation and meaning

ۚ قُلْ آمِنُوا بِهِ أَوْ لَا تُؤْمِنُوا إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ مِن قَبْلِهِ إِذَا يُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ يَخِرُّونَ لِلْأَذْقَانِ سُجَّدًا

Transliteration

Qul aaaniminoo biheee aw laa tu'minoo; innal lazeena ootul 'ilma min qabliheee izaa yutlaa 'alaihim yakhirroona lil azqaani sujjadaa

Translation

Say, "Believe in it or do not believe. Indeed, those who were given knowledge before it - when it is recited to them, they fall upon their faces in prostration,

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

Say, O Messenger: Believe in it, for your belief will not increase it in any way, or do not believe in it, for your disbelief will not decrease it in any way. Surely, those who read the previous divine books and who understood the revelation and prophecy when the Qur’ān is recited to them fall on their faces, prostrating to Allah out of gratitude.
