Surah Al-Isra 17:62 — translation and meaning

قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَكَ هَذَا الَّذِي كَرَّمْتَ عَلَيَّ لَئِنْ أَخَّرْتَنِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ لَأَحْتَنِكَنَّ ذُرِّيَّتَهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
Word by Word
Transliteration
Qaala ara'aytaka haazal lazee karramta 'alaiya la'in akhhartani ilaa Yawmil Qiyaamati la-ah tanikanna zurriyyatahooo illaa qaleelaa
Translation
[Iblees] said, "Do You see this one whom You have honored above me? If You delay me until the Day of Resurrection, I will surely destroy his descendants, except for a few."
Verse interpretation (Tafsir)
Iblis said to his Lord: Do you see this creature You have honoured above me by ordering me to prostrate to him? If you keep me alive until the end of this worldly life, I shall allure his children and misguide them from Your straight path, except a few of them You have saved and who are Your chosen servants.
