ۚ الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْمَوْتَ وَالْحَيَاةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفُورُ

the Oft-Forgiving

Transliteration

Allazee khalaqal mawta walhayaata liyabluwakum ayyukum ahsanu 'amalaa; wa huwal 'azeezul ghafoor

Translation

[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving -

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

The one who created death and life to test you, O people, which one of you is better in terms of actions. He is the Almighty who no one can overpower; the Forgiving of the sins of whichever of His servants repents to him.
