Surah Al-Qalam 68:43 — translation and meaning

ۖ خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ وَقَدْ كَانُوا يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَالِمُونَ

And indeed

السُّجُودِ
al-sujudi
prostrate
وَهُمْ
wahum
while they
سَالِمُونَ
salimuna
(were) sound

Transliteration

Khaashi'atan absaaruhum tarhaquhum zillatunw wa qad kaanoo yud'awna ilassujoodi wa hum saalimoon

Translation

Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. And they used to be invited to prostration while they were sound.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

Their eyesight will be humiliated; humiliation and regret will overcome them. Yet in the world, they were asked to prostrate to Allah while they were in safety from what they will be facing on that day.
