Surah Al-Qasas 28:18 — translation and meaning

ۚ فَأَصْبَحَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ خَائِفًا يَتَرَقَّبُ فَإِذَا الَّذِي اسْتَنصَرَهُ بِالْأَمْسِ يَسْتَصْرِخُهُ قَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى إِنَّكَ لَغَوِيٌّ مُّبِينٌ

Transliteration

Fa asbaha fil madeenati khaaa'ifany yataraqqabu fa izal lazis tansarahoo bil amsi yastasrikhuh; qaala lahoo moosaaa innaka laghawiyyum mubeen

Translation

And he became inside the city fearful and anticipating [exposure], when suddenly the one who sought his help the previous day cried out to him [once again]. Moses said to him, "Indeed, you are an evident, [persistent] deviator."

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

After the incident of killing the Copt, Moses awoke in the morning anxious as to what may happen. Suddenly, the very same person who had sought his aid and assistance against an enemy Copt the previous day, was now seeking his assistance against another Copt. Moses said to him, “Indeed, you are misguided and a clear inciter!”
