Surah Al-Qasas 28:39 — translation and meaning

وَاسْتَكْبَرَ هُوَ وَجُنُودُهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا يُرْجَعُونَ

Transliteration

Wastakbara huwa wa junooduhoo fil ardi bighairil haqqi wa zannooo annahum ilainaa laa yurja'oon

Translation

And he was arrogant, he and his soldiers, in the land, without right, and they thought that they would not be returned to Us.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

Pharaoh and his armies became arrogant and sought to remain dominant in Egypt without any right. They denied the resurrection and thought they would not return to Me on the Day of Judgement for accountability and requital.
