Surah As-Sajda 32:14 — translation and meaning

السجدة · Verse 14 / 30 · Page 416

ۖ فَذُوقُوا بِمَا نَسِيتُمْ لِقَاءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا إِنَّا نَسِينَاكُمْ وَذُوقُوا عَذَابَ الْخُلْدِ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

have forgotten you
وَذُوقُوا

And taste
عَذَابَ

(the) punishment
الْخُلْدِ
al-khul'di
(of) eternity
بِمَا
bima
for what
كُنتُمْ
kuntum
you used (to)
تَعْمَلُونَ
ta'maluna
do

Transliteration

Fazooqoo bimaa naseetum liqaaa'a yawminkum haaza innaa naseenaakum wa zooqoo 'azaabal khuldi bimaa kuntum ta'maloon

Translation

So taste [punishment] because you forgot the meeting of this, your Day; indeed, We have [accordingly] forgotten you. And taste the punishment of eternity for what you used to do."

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

And on the Day of Judgment it will be said to them in rebuke and censure, “Now taste the punishment due to your heedlesness of the meeting with Allah on the Day of Judgment for accountability in the worldly life, I shall leave you in the punishment without caring for how much you suffer from it. Taste the punishment of the everlasting hellfire that will not end, because of the sins you used to commit in the world.
