Surah Ghafir 40:25 — translation and meaning

ۚ فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُم بِالْحَقِّ مِنْ عِندِنَا قَالُوا اقْتُلُوا أَبْنَاءَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَهُ وَاسْتَحْيُوا نِسَاءَهُمْ وَمَا كَيْدُ الْكَافِرِينَ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَالٍ
Word by Word
Transliteration
Falamuna jaaa'ahum bil haqqi min 'indinaa qaaluq tulooo abnaaa'al lazeena aamanoo ma'ahoo wastahyoo nisaaa'ahum; wa maa kaidul kaafireena illaa fee dalaal
Translation
And when he brought them the truth from Us, they said, "Kill the sons of those who have believed with him and keep their women alive." But the plan of the disbelievers is not except in error.
Verse interpretation (Tafsir)
Then when Moses came to them with the proof to show his truthfulness, Pharaoh said: “Kill the sons of those who have believed in Moses and keep their women alive, to disgrace them”. And the plot of the disbelievers to attempt to reduce the number of believers will only perish not being successful.
