وَاسْتَفْتَحُوا وَخَابَ كُلُّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ

Transliteration

Wastaftahoo wa khaaba kullu jabbaarin 'aneed

Translation

And they requested victory from Allah, and disappointed, [therefore], was every obstinate tyrant.

Verse interpretation (Tafsir)

The messengers asked Allah to make them victorious over their enemies. Every person who is arrogant and stubborn towards the truth, who does not follow it despite it being apparent to him, is a loser.
