Surah Ta-Ha 20:133 — translation and meaning

ۚ وَقَالُوا لَوْلَا يَأْتِينَا بِآيَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِ أَوَلَمْ تَأْتِهِم بَيِّنَةُ مَا فِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَى
Word by Word
Transliteration
Wa qaaloo law laa yaateenaa bi Aayatim mmir Rabbih; awalam taatihim baiyinatu maa fis suhufil oolaa
Translation
And they say, "Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?" Has there not come to them evidence of what was in the former scriptures?
Verse interpretation (Tafsir)
These disbelievers who reject the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Why does Muhammad not bring us a sign from his Lord which proves his truthfulness and that he is a Messenger?” Has the Qur’ān which confirms the previous divine books not come to these rejecters?
