ۚ ۚ ۚ وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنَاهُ بِهَا وَلَكِنَّهُ أَخْلَدَ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ فَمَثَلُهُ كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِ إِن تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْهِ يَلْهَثْ أَوْ تَتْرُكْهُ يَلْهَث ذَّلِكَ مَثَلُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا فَاقْصُصِ الْقَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

وَلَوْ
walaw
And if
شِئْنَا
shi'na
We willed
لَرَفَعْنَاهُ
larafa'nahu
surely We (could) have raised him
بِهَا
biha
with these
وَلَكِنَّهُ
walakinnahu
[and] but he
أَخْلَدَ
akhlada
adhered
إِلَى
ila
to
الْأَرْضِ
al-ardi
the earth
وَاتَّبَعَ
wa-ittaba'a
and followed
هَوَاهُ
hawahu
his (vain) desires
فَمَثَلُهُ
famathaluhu
So his example
كَمَثَلِ
kamathali
(is) like (the) example
الْكَلْبِ
al-kalbi
(of) the dog
إِن
in
if
تَحْمِلْ
tahmil
you attack
عَلَيْهِ
alayhi
[on] him
يَلْهَثْ
yalhath
he lolls out his tongue
أَوْ
aw
or
تَتْرُكْهُ
tatruk'hu
if you leave him
يَلْهَث
yalhath
he lolls out his tongue
ذَّلِكَ
dhalika
That
مَثَلُ
mathalu
(is the) example
الْقَوْمِ
al-qawmi
(of) the people
الَّذِينَ
alladhina
who
كَذَّبُوا
kadhabu
denied
بِآيَاتِنَا
biayatina
[in] Our Signs
فَاقْصُصِ
fa-uq'susi
So relate
الْقَصَصَ
al-qasasa
the story
لَعَلَّهُمْ
la'allahum
so that they may
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
yatafakkaruna
reflect
