#2993Authentic hadith· Narrated by Bukhari & Muslim

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever emancipates a share in a slave should completely emancipate him from his money, if he can afford it. Otherwise, a fair price should be set for the slave, who will be required to work and pay for his freedom without being overburdened."

Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever keeps a dog, except a dog for hunting or for guarding livestock, his deeds will be reduced by two Qirāts every day." Sālim said: Abu Hurayrah, who had a farm, used to say: "Or a farm dog."

Thābit ibn Ad-Dahhāk (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I gave an oath of allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) under the tree. Then, the Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If anyone swears by a religion other than Islam falsely and intentionally, he is as he has said. If anyone kills himself with something, he will be punished with it on the Day of Judgment. A man cannot make a vow on something that he does not possess." Another narration reads: "Cursing a believer is like killing him." A third narration stipulates: "If anyone makes a false claim to an increase of something, Allah, the Exalted and Glorified, will only give him a decrease."

‘Abdullāh ibn Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If anyone undertakes to take a false oath to appropriate the wealth of a Muslim, he will meet Allah while He is angry with him.'' It was revealed: {Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their [own] oaths for a small price.} [Āl-‘Imrān: 77]

Abu Qatādah al-Ansāri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: We went out with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) to Hunayn. He narrated a story. Then, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever kills someone in battle, having a proof for that, his belongings are his." He said it three times.

Asmā’ bint Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: We slaughtered a horse and ate it at the time of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him. Another narration has the following addition: "while we were in Madīnah."

My sister took a vow to walk to the Sacred Mosque barefoot. Then, she asked me to ask the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about it. I asked him, and he replied: "Let her walk and ride."

Jābir ibn ‘Abdullāh (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade eating the flesh of domestic donkeys, and permitted eating horseflesh. Muslim's narration reads: "We ate horse meat and wild donkeys during the time of Khaybar, but the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from eating the flesh of domestic donkeys." ‘Abdullāh ibn Abu Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: We were afflicted with severe hunger during the nights of Khaybar. On the day of the battle of Khaybar, we came across some domestic donkeys and we slaughtered them. While being cooked in the pots, the Prophet's announcer called that the pots should be turned over - and perhaps he said: "And eat nothing of the donkeys' flesh." Abu Tha‘labah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited eating the meat of domestic donkeys.

‘Abdur-Rahmān ibn Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O ‘Abdur-Rahmān ibn Samurah, do not ask for a position of authority, for if you were granted such authority upon your request, you would be left (to manage it) unaided. However, if you were granted such authority without requesting it, you would be provided with aid (to manage it). If you ever make an oath but then found a better alternative, expiate your oath and go for the better alternative."

‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: While the people were performing the Fajr prayer in Qubā' Mosque, someone came saying: "Tonight, (a portion of the) Qur'an was revealed to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), and he was ordered to face the Qiblah, so face it." Their faces were turned toward the Levant, so they turned towards the Ka‘bah.

Abu Sa‘īd al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you hear the Adhan (call to prayer), repeat what the Muezzin says."

Al-Mughīrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Once I was in the company of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey and I bent down to take off his leather socks, but he said: "Leave them, for I had put them on when they were in the state of purity." So, he wiped over them.

‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bilāl calls the Adhān at night; so, eat and drink until you hear the Adhān called by Ibn Umm Maktūm."

‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions went to Makkah, the polytheists said: "There will come to you people who are weakened by the fever of Madīnah." So, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) commanded his Companions to jog the three rounds (of Tawāf) and walk between the two Corners. He did not command them to jog all the rounds out of pity for them.

‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) entered Makkah from Kadā', from the upper mountain pass which is in Al-Bat-hā', and exited from the lower mountain pass.

‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: One day I climbed over Hafsah's house, and I saw the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) relieving himself while facing the Levant, with his back toward the Ka‘bah. In another version, he said: "while facing Bait al-Maqdis."

‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) circumambulated the Kab‘ah in the Farewell Hajj on the back of a camel, touching the Corner with a crook.

‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I did not see the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) wiping with his hand anything of the House except the two Yemeni Corners.

‘Ā’ishah, the Mother of the Believers, (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that Fātimah bint Abi Hubaysh asked the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) saying: I have a continuous flow of vaginal bleeding; so, I never attain purity (from menses). Should I abstain from prayer? He replied: "No, this is a vein. Abstain from prayer only for a number of days similar to those of your normal menses; then, take a ritual bath and pray."
