‘Ā’ishah, Mother of the Believers, (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to strive during the last ten more than he would strive at any other time.

#3758Authentic hadith· Narrated by Muslim

‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: We used to prepare for the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) his tooth-stick and the water he used for making ablution. Then, Allah would awaken him whenever He willed during the night, and he would brush his teeth with the tooth-stick, make ablution, and perform prayer.

#3769Authentic hadith· Narrated by Bukhari

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to leave fasting in a certain month until we would think that he has not fasted at all that month; and he used to fast in another month so much that we would think he has not stopped fasting at all in that month. If one wished to see him praying at night, one could see him (in that state), and if one wished to see him sleeping at night, one could see him (in that state) too.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He who weeps out of fear of Allah, will not enter the Hell till the milk returns into the udder; and the dust raised while fighting in the path of Allah and the smoke of Hell will not come together."

Az-Zubayr ibn al-‘Awwām (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is better for one of you to take his rope, go out and gather a bundle of firewood on his back, sell it, and thereby Allah preserves his dignity, than to ask people—whether they give him or withhold from him."

Umm Kulthūm bint ‘Uqbah ibn Abi Mu‘ayt (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The liar is not the one who seeks reconciliation between people, conveying good, or saying good things.” There is an addition in the narration of Muslim, saying: that I did not hear him giving permission of lying in anything except in three (things): the war, reconciliation between people, and what a man says to his wife and what a woman says to her husband.

‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who maintains ties of kinship is not the one who recompenses the good done to him by his relatives; rather, he is the one who keeps good relations with those relatives who severs the bond of kinship with him."

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No one who has entered Paradise would love to return to the life of this world even if he would be given all that the world contains, except for the martyr. He will wish to return to the world and be killed ten more times on account of the honor that he will find." In another narration: "... on account of the merit of martyrdom that he will find."

Abu ‘Abs ‘Abdur-Rahmān ibn Jabr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Anyone whose feet get covered with dust in the cause of Allah will not be touched by the Fire."

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The martyr feels nothing from the agony of death except as one of you feels from the sting of an ant.”

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what is equivalent to Jihad in the cause of Allah?” He answered: “You can not do it.” The question was repeated twice or thrice to which he gave the same answer. Then he said: “The example of a Mujāhid in the cause of Allah is like a person who keeps fasting, praying and reciting the verses of Allah unfailingly until the Mujāhid returns.” In the version narrated by Al-Bukhāri: A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, show me a deed that equals Jihad.” The Prophet replied: "I do not find one." Then he said: "When the Mujāhid goes out for Jihad, can you enter your place of prayer and pray incessantly and fast without breaking your fast?" The man replied: "Who can do that!"

#4181Authentic hadith· Narrated by Bukhari

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If somebody keeps a horse in Allah's cause motivated by his faith in Allah and his belief in His promise, then he will be rewarded on the Day of Resurrection for what the horse has eaten or drunk and for its dung and urine."

Abu Sa‘īd al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu Sa‘īd, whoever is pleased with Allah as a Lord, with Islam as a religion, and with Muhammad as a messenger, Paradise is guaranteed for him." Abu Sa‘īd was full of wonder at that, so he said: O Messenger of Allah, repeat that to me. He did so and then said: "There is something else by means of which the slave is raised a hundred degrees in Paradise; the distance between each two degrees is like that between the heavens and the earth." He said: O Messenger of Allah, what is it? He said: "Jihad for the sake of Allah, Jihad for the sake of Allah."

‘Amr ibn ‘Abasah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever shoots an arrow in the cause of Allah will receive the same reward of freeing a slave."

Abu Qatādah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he went looking for his debtor, who hid from him. Then, on finding him, he said: I am insolvent. He said: By Allah? He said: By Allah! He said: Verily, I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever is pleased to be saved by Allah from the agonies of the Day of Judgment, let him give the insolvent respite or grant him remission."

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever fasts Ramadan, out of faith and in pursuit of reward, his past sins will be forgiven."

Abu Mūsa al-Ash‘ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever prays the Bardayn (Fajr and ‘Asr prayers) will enter Paradise."

Mu‘ādh (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Paradise is guaranteed for any Muslim who fights in the cause of Allah for the length of time between two milkings of a she-camel. Anyone is wounded or injured in the cause of Allah, it will come on the Day of Judgment bleeding the most it ever bled, but its color will be like saffron and its fragrance will be like musk."

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever performs Qiyām (night prayer) in the Night of Decree, out of faith and in pursuit of reward, his past sins will be forgiven."

#4223Authentic hadith· Narrated by Bukhari & Muslim

Sālim ibn ‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him) reported from his father that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What an excellent man ‘Abdullāh is if only he observes the night prayer." Sālim said: "Since then, ‘Abdullāh would not sleep at night but very little."
