Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) governs Muslim life in worship and social relations. These hadiths form the evidence for Islamic legal rulings.
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported directly that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the use of saffron by men.
‘Ali ibn Abi Tālib (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no orphanhood after reaching puberty, and there is no silence for the whole day till the night."
Qays ibn Abi Hāzim reported: Abu Bakr As-Siddīq (may Allah be pleased with him) entered upon a woman from Ahmas tribe, called Zaynab, and he noticed that she was not speaking, he asked: "Why is she not speaking?" They said: "She has intended to perform Hajj without speaking." He said to her: "Speak, for this is unlawful; it is a practice of the pre-Islamic period of ignorance." Thereupon, she spoke.
Sa‘d ibn Abi Waqqās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Anyone falsely claims to be the son of other than his father, knowing that he is not his father, will be forbidden to enter Paradise."
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported directly from the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: “Do not disown your fathers. Whoever disowns his father has disbelieved.”
Yazīd ibn Sharīk ibn Tāriq reported: I saw ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) delivering a speech from the pulpit, and I heard him say: "By Allah! We have no book to read except the Book of Allah and what is written in this scroll." He unrolled the scroll, and it showed a list of the types of camels to be given as blood-money and contained other legal matters relating to the killing of game in the sanctuary of Makkah and the expiation for it. In it was also written: "The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Madīnah is a sanctuary from ‘Ayr to Thawr (mountains). Whoever innovates something new (in religion) or shelters an innovator in it will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people, and Allah will accept from him neither an obligatory nor a supererogatory prayer on the Day of Resurrection. A pledge of protection granted by any Muslim, even of the lowest status is the same and should be honored by all Muslims. Whoever betrays a Muslim in this respect will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people, and Allah will accept from him neither an obligatory nor a supererogatory prayer on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever attributes his fatherhood to someone other than his (real) father or takes as his master someone other than his (real) master will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people, and Allah will accept from him neither an obligatory nor a supererogatory prayer on the Day of Resurrection.'"
‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Ās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Returning from battle is like going to battle (in reward)."
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The faithful and diligent slave will receive a double reward." Abu Hurayrah added: "By Him in Whose Hand the soul of Abu Hurayrah is, if it wasn’t for Jihad in the cause of Allah, and Hajj, and kindness to my mother, I would prefer to die as a slave."
‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Ās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: “No invading group or detachment sets out to fight in the cause of Allah and gets its share of the booty and returns safe and sound, but it has been given two-thirds of its reward in this world. On the other hand, no invading group or detachment returns defeated and injured but it will receive its full reward in the Hereafter.”
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He who sets free a Muslim slave, Allah will deliver from the fire of Hell every part of his body in return for every part of the slave's body, even his private parts."
Abu Umāmah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever fasts one day in the cause of Allah, Allah shall put between him and Hellfire a trench as wide as the distance between the heavens and the earth."
‘Uqbah ibn ‘Āmir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever learned archery then forsook it, is not one of us, or he said: he has indeed disobeyed."
Abu Rāfi‘(may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He who washes a dead person and conceals what he sees, Allah will grant him forgiveness forty times.''
Abu Umāmah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If anyone does not fight in the cause of Allah, equip a warrior in the cause of Allah, or stay behind to look after a warrior's family, Allah shall afflict him with a calamity before the Day of Judgment."
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever dies without having fought (in the cause of Allah) or having thought of fighting (in the cause of Allah) will die while having one of the qualities of hypocrisy.”
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Strive against the polytheists with your properties, souls, and tongues."
‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: I asked for the permission of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) to make Jihad, so he said: "Your Jihad is pilgrimage."
Abu Mas‘ūd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a man spends something on his family, seeking reward from Allah for it, it will be recorded for him as charity."
Ka‘b ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Whenever the Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) intended to carry out a battle, he would use an equivocation to conceal his real destination till it was the battle of Tabūk which the Messenger carried out in very hot weather. As he was going to face a very long journey through a wasteland and was to meet and attack a large number of enemies. So, he made the situation clear to the Muslims so that they might prepare themselves accordingly and get ready to conquer their enemy. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) informed them of the destination he was heading for.
‘Imrān ibn Husayn reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) obtained the freedom of two Muslim men in captivity in exchange for a man from the polytheists.
