Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) governs Muslim life in worship and social relations. These hadiths form the evidence for Islamic legal rulings.
Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) saw a boy who had part of his head shaved and part left unshaven, so he forbade them from doing this, and said: "Shave it all or leave it all."
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) say: "If the strap of the sandal of one of you breaks, let him not walk in the other sandal until he fixes it."
Jābir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Abu Quhāfah, father of Abu Bakr As-Siddīq (may Allah be pleased with him), was brought on the day of the Conquest of Makkah with his head and beard as white as Thaghāmah (a white plant). Therefore, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Change this and avoid black."
‘Amr ibn Shu‘ayb (may Allah be pleased with him) reported from his father and grandfather that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not pluck out grey hair, for it is the light of the Muslim on the Day of Judgment.”
Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade qaza‘ (shaving part of one's head and leaving other parts unshaven).
Abu Mūsa (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No one dies and they stand over him crying and saying, 'O what a great man he was! O how respectful he was,' except that two angels are appointed for him to poke him, saying: 'Were you like that?'"
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: While we were in the mosque with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), a Bedouin came and began to urinate in the mosque. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: Stop! Stop! He said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not interrupt him; let him." So they left him until he finished urinating. Then the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) called him and said to him: "These mosques are not appropriate for anything of this kind of urine or filth. They are only for the remembrance of Allah Almighty, prayer, and recitation of the Qur’an" or as the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said. He said: Then he ordered a man from among the people who brought a bucket of water and poured it over the affected area.
Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that a man announced (the loss of his camel) in the mosque, saying out loud: "Has any one seen the red camel?" Upon this the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May you not find it! The mosques are built for the purpose they are built."
As-Sā'ib ibn Yazīd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I was in the mosque when a man threw a pebble at me. I looked and it was ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: "Go and bring me these two." So I brought them to him. He said: "Where are you from?" They said: "From the people of Taif." He said: "If you had been from this city, I would have inflicted pain on you. You raise your voices in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)."
‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him) is reported to have delivered a Friday sermon. In it he said: “O people, you eat two plants that I only find offensive: onion and garlic. I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and if he detected their odor on a man in the mosque, he would order [the man] to be taken out to Al-Baqī‘. So anyone who [wants to] eat them, let them eliminate [their odor] by cooking.''
’Umm Salamah, Mother of the Believers and wife of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has a sacrifice to slaughter, once the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah is declared, he should not take anything from his hair or his nails until he sacrifices."
Mu‘ādh ibn Anas al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade Hibwah (a sitting position) on Friday while the Imām is delivering the sermon.
Abu Qatādah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Beware of excessive swearing (by Allah) in sale transactions, for it sells (the goods) then erases (the blessing)."
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Verily, if one of you insists on fulfilling an oath by which he may harm his family that is more sinful in the sight of Allah, the Almighty, than breaking the oath and paying the (oath-breaking) expiation that Allah imposed.”
Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever swears saying: 'I have nothing to do with Islam,' if he is lying, then he will be as he said: and if he is telling the truth, then his Islam will be defective."
